muffler and boost

well all my muffler decided to finish rotting off over the weekend and i called dave s up and was thinking on installing a flowmaster but decided to run a new stright piece of pipe in place of the muffler like dave had suggested and reinstalled the tail pipe make it look factory and i took a piece of black coragated drain pipe 4 inch and ran it up to the front of the truck under the drivers side batt box to the hole in the support. drove it to work this moring and down the the interstate i was hitting about 4 psi of boost crusin at 70. so i gain 2 to 3 more psi YAHOOOOOO! so i just have to get the other leak took care of and i think i can increase the boost more. plus i have a friend with a 7.3 powerstroke had just remove all his factory exhaust and he is goign to give me that set up i know i will need to make some small mods but hey that is the fun part

ncfirefighter46, is the straight pipe that you're talking about just that, i.e. same diameter as tailpipe and just hooked up? while my muffler isn't shot yet, i'm wondering if it would let the 7.3 idi nonturbo of mine breathe a little easier and help the power????? also, how much louder is it, not that i'm really THAT concerned, but would rather not get that yellow slip for noise.

A NA motor does get rather loud without a muffler.

Decelleration from about 2700 to 2000 RPM has a rather loud jake brake sound.
