doing a tune-up today...changed plugs 5-8 on driver side, but cannot reach plugs 1-4 on passenger side of engine...is there a special technique? Any tricks perhaps anyone knows for the approach?
I did mine back in November when weather was better. Passenger side is a bugger. All I can tell you is to have every known combo of tools at your disposal. A really good idea is to spray a high quailty penatrating lube around each plug after using air to dislodge any crap built up in the holes. It seems to gather in that side really well. Let the lube WORK. I can't stress that more. I say that because I broke the hex head off my #2 plug, which left the taper, threads, and porclin in the head. Something I would only wish on a brand "c" owner. Anyway, other than scraped knuckles and wrecked insulation around the heater box, good luck.
I did mine as well last year on my 95 351. Just gotta get up on top of the engine and reach down. get a few multi-jointed universals for the wratchet, some extentions and your set. Get those knuckles scratched up.
I did the same thing this past fall and I too could not figure out how to get the out so I took it to a freinds garage paided him $20 to do the passenger side I asked how he did it and he explained that he took off the tire and reached up too about 1/2 hour he said
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Jan-02 AT 11:53 PM (EST)]I used to just reach from the top with a 3/8 ratchet and pop a cople of u jointed pices on there, bout 45 mins I think.
