Hi my truck seems to be going though about a quart every 1000 mile .. seems very high.
My truck doesn't seem to smoke alot so im not so sure its the rings plus i don't have that many miles on my truck.
So i would think it must be leaking , the valley of my engine does have oil on it and under the turbo does as well ... its hard to tell where the oil is leaking out of but my best guess is that it is coming out of the head gasket seems like that is where most of the oil is . Anyone have any ideas ?? seems like alot of oil to be going though ? THANKS !
A common place for oil to leak is the ebpv actuator.
Also if your truck is using oil and not leaking ford recomends only adding oil when 2 quarts low, and you need to check the oil 20 min after you shut it off. Over filling the crankcase can cause bubbles in the oil.
Are you sure it's oil in the valley? If it is, I think Foreman nailed it. That's the most common leak on top of the motor IIRC. If it's not, and it's fuel, different thread. But I would start looking at injector orings at that point......I think.
Well i changed my fuel filter about 5000 miles ago and the fuel was not blue in any way so that means my o-rings are good right ? where is the ebpv actuator found ? is it expensive to have that fixed if it is leaking from there ? and yes im pretty sure its oil not fuel in my valley ! thanks !!!!
If you have blowby coming out of the dipstick, that tells me that your crank case vent is plugged and not doing it's job. CCV. It's the little box on top of the drivers valvecover connected to the intake tube. I would pull that and check it out. If you don't have another way of venting crank case pressure, that will surely cause oil leaks like crazy. Definatly check that out.
rubberduck i did clean the ccv about 5000 miles ago i took it off and ran solvant though it ? i couldn't really see anyother way to clean it ? but it never seems that plugged anyway .
Ok so i checked my oil today and now it is half way down the dip stick and i am starting to worry . ? I had a dodge (GAS) that burned lots of oil turned out the intake manifold gasket was gone and the truck was sucking oil from the crankcase into the intake and burning it .truck never smoked but burnt 5 quarts in 2000 miles (almost sized the motor)... has anyone ever heard of this problem with the PSD ?
CHECK YOUR ENGINE COOLANT TO SEE IF YOUR DUMping oil in the rad, pull your boot off the boost side on the fresh air half of the turbo and check to see if your oil soaked.
Does the blow by blow out your dipstick or with valve cover cap removed does it cary a spray of oil????
Anyways, after those checks, the next thing comes to mind is a compression/leakdown test.
oh, sorry about the caps, I have to type caps at work and I occasionaly leave them on.
i had the tube off when i put my NAPA filter on and if i can remember it did have oil on it .. thats the red tube before the turbo right ?
... i'll check tonight to make sure but i do believe it had oil on it though ....... If it does have oil on it what does that mean ?
What I'm saying is the oil in the y-pipe the hooks into the boost boots, the orange boot on the turbo from the air box will have oil in it cause of that ccv.
If you can't find any oil leaks on the outside of the engine the next suspected place is the turbo, after that like mentioned, leakdown/compresion test
yeah there are some leaks like i mentioned above but they don't seem bad enough to be going though the amount of oil i am going though , that why i thought it might be the intake gasket ? When i bought the truck 20,000 miles ago it didn't seem to burn oil very very little if any cause i didn't notice it low on the dip stick. Now it seems every oil change it burns more ,now its pretty bad like i said half way down the dip stick . I have no idea what it is.
