Gearing question with Edge

I have been trying out level 2 and 3 and they both perform well. I have 3.55 gears and bigger than stock tires. Anyways, after adjusting my tire size I have not been crazy about my gas mileage(readout on the edge).About 14 and 17. However, I just noticed that the edge was setting my gear ratio to 3.73 until I cusomized it and changed it to 3.55. What effect would the wrong gear input of had on my mpg and speed readings? Also, I assume it effected where my shift points were also right?

Correct, the tuner thought you were 0.18 under driven. It's not enough to cause much concern, but it does increase the rev/mile the larger the tire is. I hate doing this math in my head so here.

The drive shaft is spinning 3.55 per rev of the tire. You computer saw it as 3.73 per rev of the tire. Just to use easy numbers we will assume 1000 revs per mile. So your drive shaft will spin 3550 per mile, your computer wants to see 3730 per mile, so

1........x
--......--
3550..3730

3730=3550x x=1.05

So for every mile your computer read, you went 1.05. It's late but it sounds right.

After getting my gear ratio tuned right and then actually measuring the diameter of my tires using the chalk method I believe I am as close as I can get. Thanks for your help.

It seems that it depends on how much the tires swell as centrifigal force works on them. My Speedo is dead on to 45mph, after that it goes off by 3mph.
