I was a ford service director for 11 years, ford covers glazing (glass) for 3/36 against stress cracks. Take a ball point pen and run it along the crack, if the pen doesnt get stuck anywhere in the crack, then it wasnt hit by a rock, (chipped) and its a stress crack, they will replace it at fords expense. Hope this helps.
good call on the ball point pen tj,it never misses,it is either chipped(not warranty) or not (warranty)-how long have you been out as sd? i think(which is scary) glass is 12 unlimited mileage now on stress,i can check on monday though!

monday came early i have verified that stress is now only covered for 12 months unlimited miles--but icant--do the ball point pen deal yourself and you will be able to tell for sure if yer covered.
1Buzz, I burned out of the car business in late 1999, too many hours and an absolute ton of grief between dealing with irate customers and fomoco. I am now an electrician, and lovin life again.
big temperature changes are great for the glass business. Hot or cold glass. Although I havent seen too many from cold glass since moving to FL. Most likely there is a rock pit that started the crack. Not very many crack for no reason.
Considering how many Super Dutys are on the road I really dont do that many of them.
(Glazing = flat glass, residential and commercial)
My 04 F250 did it not long after I got it. I think it was from leaving the window open when I was plowing and cranking the defrost. It started in the lower right and went straight across to the lower left. My '05 did exactly the same thing last year, but it didn't do it this past winter.
As far as the Mass insurance question goes... if you have comprehensive coverage, it's basically a no questions asked glass coverage deal. You bring your car/truck to a glass shop, they'll usually call your insurance company to verify coverage and that's it. No deductibles etc.

Sweet! I have just a tiny little chip that only I can see (according to everyone else). If it gets worse I'll have to look into that.
