If you can find an Autozone they sometimes have them in stock, Carquest also has their own aftermarket version but I have had bad timing issues with them.
Check the harness leg close and make sure there are no chaffed wires or corroded pins in the connector.
do you have a pic showing me where to look? this 7.3 is hard enough for me to find my way around...sure isnt like my old 5.9 was also what do you think about o reilly's replacements? they priced me one at 148.37 out the door...
Havent been able to find a way to get a good pic but from the top of the CPS the harness goes up and is held to the water pump housing with a plastic tab then runs under the alternator bracket and joins the Oil Pressure, EBPS, and Coolant temp sensor legs.
You don't have a signature with any mods listed so could you tell us if you have a chip/tuner or any more details about your truck? It'd help all of us with solutions.
When you have a chance, you can go under User CP and add a signature there.
I have a DP tuner and my truck suddenly died on me. Turned out to be a loose connection on the tuner (my fault - Jodi's products ROCK!!). I also had my truck run rough, low power, similar to yours - bad CPS. Do check the UVC (Under Valve Cover) harnesses as Alan pointed out to be sure you're all tight.
the truck is basicly stock except for the 6637, 4inch from the turbo back i do have a diablo chip for the truck but i never run it due to not having any gauges to keep track of it. just 188k on the clock. i am going to take the truck to the dealer in the am and have them check it out first. but if it something simple and i can fix it myself then i will. i just want to know for sure what i need to do to fix it than just thowing parts at it on a hope and a prayer... i hope its just the cps rather than a harness issue.... thanks guys i will let you know what i find out and i will add some info to my sig.
AutoZone is really good about allowing you to return parts, if I remember correctly. Before you get it towed to the dealer, you may want to pickup CPS from somewhere and swap it yourself. If that's not the problem, it doesn't hurt to have a spare handy just in case.
just got off the horn with the dealer and they sais it was pointing to the harness but they would know for sure here in a few. Also stated that it was definatly an injector not firing but it was more electrical than mechanical. i will just have to wait and see what they some up with.
