So i got my new 08 psd f250 last week, and i love it. So as i was noticing other new 08's i saw they had the clearnce lamp/lights on the roof and saw that i didnt get them when i purchased my truck (lame, i know...) but anyways im going to order the lights and wires/harness from the dealer on monday. My question is does anybody know how to install these properly... i was reading up on it a little and i know i have to drop the headliner... so i was wondering if anyone could give me some info on how to do something like this. Also i was thinking about how i am going to get the lights perfect looking (oem) as the other 08's so i was going to make a template from another truck and just lay it down on mine and drill the holes... does aybody have any other suggestion on what i should do? Also what kind of silicone should i use to seal the holes underneath the lights once i lay them down, i dont want any water or anyhting leaking through at all! any information or process on this would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I just picked up my 07 F-250 and it didn't come with the lights either...If you could , let me know how the install went. I'm looking at doing the same.
so i got my clearance lamps today from the dealership, and they told me that my wiring harness that i am plugging into the lights should already be up under the headliner bc i have sattelite radio and it comes off of that??? So thats what the tech told me, does anyone else know anything about this....???
So as i was saying in my last post... i got my clearance lights and all, but didnt get the harness for the lights bc the ford tech told me that the harness would be up there underneath the headliner already bc i had sattelite radio. So i took the headliner down today, getting ready to do the install and the harness wasnt there. So now i have to go back to ford on monday and order the wirring harness... kind of sucks bc i keep getting pressed for finding the time to do it.... so ill let you know what happens when i go back and get the harness and do the install, which will probably be in the middle of next week or so
yah i actually ended up putting them in this weekend, and they look great. ill tell ya what though, they were alot more difficult then i thought they were going to be. the tech at ford told me that the harness would already be up there due to me having satellite radio, so i brought down my headliner and it wasnt there... so i went to the dealership bought the harness, which now i know why they got confused bc you have to take your stock wiring harness out from your sattelite radio and replace it with the one that also comes off of your clearance lamp harness. at first it was a lil nerve racking drilling into the roof of my brand new 50k dollar truck but like everyone else said, after the first hole its fine. just make sure you triple measure before you drill... then snaking the harness up above the headliner inbetween the middle piece of sheet metal (underneath the actual sheet metal roof. kinda confusing, i know...) was a lil task as well. i found it easy to basicly just take down the whole headliner which you do by taking the pillars off then your middle storage compartment on your roof and then the back seat handles above the driver and passenger seat. it took me a total of about 5-6 hours to do bc i also wanted to double check everything and make sure verything was getting done right. so yah its a little time consuming. if i get some time ill post up some pictures up...
