So the two sets of plugs that go to the stock Duraspark Ignition in a 1978 F 250 with a 400 (yeah I know that doesnt really matter)...... What do they do? Or where are they supposed to be hooked up? No I don't have the old plugs either.
My old ignition box was replaced with an aftermarket ignition. I am attempting to "restore it."
Now im attempting to wire it up correctly but cant find any literature or diagrams that are specific to what each wire to the plugs goes to what???
In actuality I have replaced all the parts besides the wiring, till I can afford it.
Everything is new except the starter which works fine but I cant get any spark?
Im hoping that there is any insight anyone has to this!!!
Thanks guys these are awesome and 1000 times better than the ones I found. Do any of you by chance know of any problems that are associated with MSD ignition parts.
Like I have said before all my parts are brand new and am having a problem with no spark? I even got a Ready Run Dizzy and cant get so much as a almost pop on any cylinders. I have checked the timing and rewired it multiple times, Tried a different MSD A6 to no avail.
It did fire before, the gas is fresh, cranks healthy, new solenoid, checked the 12v going to the Brain, and coil.
What are the chances of the spark wires going bad or even two MSD brains going bad? Maybe something in the Key, like the overrides? I called the tech line and was told unless I hooked up the +/- backwards there should be no problem.
I have a friend, with a 77 250, 351w who switched back to the duraspark because of constant problems with it. Any suggestions?
At least with DS units you can have them tested at the parts store. MSD parts can end up as mega $$ and trouble. Remember the MSD unit still requires a good coil and a signal from the distributor.
