$100 cleveland

Today I picked up a 2V cleveland, it was locked up, so i was going to let it marinate in some brake fluid for a few days, I began pouring the fluid in the cylinders and all was well till I got to old no.7, and I decided to knock out the rusty freeze plug and what do you know out comes my brake fluid so I think I got a set of 2V heads for a 100 dollars because the cylinder is pretty rusty I think the block is cracked because if I am thinking right the only way for brake fluid to enter the water passage would be for a crack to be in the block is this correct, I am going to try and make time tomorrow to open her up and take a look,
Danlee I think I am still having some water problems with my 4V cleveland the oil has a slight milky look to it, I went ahead and retorqued the other head and am going to see if that helps, the guy at the machine shop said that I would be more satisfied with the 2V heads than the four barrel heads, today while I was looking at my gem of a purchase the ports on the 2V seemed a good bit bigger than the 4v heads but have not compared the 2V to the 4V side by side,

A bad head gasket or warped head will allow the brake fluid to enter the water jacket.

The 4V heads have much larger ports than the 2V heads.

You will need a 2V manifold when you use the 2V heads. Do you have a manifold on the 2V motor?

There are domestic Aluminum 2V manifolds available for 2V Clevelands from Weiand and Edelbrock.

what kind of problems am I going to run into if I swap out the 400 for the cleveland, I notice the cleveland is a front sump is that going to be a problem with the cross member up front on a 78 f150 4x4, I have got the small block bellhousing already, am I going to have to change the engine mounts on the frame or will the ones for the 400 work, I need to know if i am going to have to make alot of adjustments to make this work before I get to deep into the project to make sure that this is something I really want to do. i only ask because i helped a buddy swap his 300 straight six out for a 302 in his 68 and it seemed like a lot of swapping out parts and we were not sure if everything he bought for the project was going to work until we started putting it together, I just don't want to get bit in the middle of the swap and wish I had went with the 400,

the $100 cleveland has a 2 barrelll intake on top of it is a complete motor but I still have not had a chance to open it up yet to check the cracked block theory
thanks

You will have to swap oil pans and oil pump pickup and use the rear sump oil pan. You will also need the oil pump pickup mounting stud from the main cap on the 400.

The frame mounts should be OK, you will need a set of mounts for the Cleveland block.
