ESP... yes or no?

Today I signed a purchase agreement on a 2005 Eddie Gasser X 4X4...

42k miles... very nice!!

I have till Monday to decide if I want to get the "ESP" PremiumCARE that will give me 4 years and 48K miles (ESP will end at 90K miles). Add $2800ish (100 dollar deductible).

I generally keep my (the one I drive---not wifeypoos...) vehicles a while... have had my 99F250SD for 6 years... average less than 10K miles per year. But I am sure I will use the X more for trips.

I do not tow... generally do not beat my vehicles... kept in a heated garage... basicly I got the X for the space (3 growing sons!!) and I have some OCD--(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) tendencies . Yes, a bit warped, but not as bad as George is (sorry George... could not resist) . So I maintain my vehicles quite well.

I'm leaning towards getting it.... (eventually the ball joints will go) and we all know what that can cost!!! (Did my SD at 68K miles).

Another question... would slight modifications void the ESP? (find it hard not to type ESPN. ... like Royal Purple in the diffs & trans (all three with MagTech covers hopefully)... mobil1... nothing too rad...

Well... any opinions?

Thanks!

I was just telling the wife about those cover's, think that's the first thing i'll be doing to our Big X. I got that exact same warranty with our big X, i figure the months will go by faster then the mile's. But it's nice to have in the back pocket, but i also plan on doing some decent towing with ours at first.

I say get it, if ya dont use it a couple months before it ends snap the exaust manifold bolts off and have em replace those for ya, just got most of your $ back. You will also need balljoints before 90K. I just had my A/C and balljoints on one side and some sway bar bushings for a hundred bucks (54K miles at time of service). I got a 3/36 for i think 23 or 2400.

U might want to check with http://www.warranties4wheels.com I have used them twice for two of my rigs and they've gotten me good prices on good warranties..They wanted $1800 for a 3 or 4 year $100 ded for this rig and I'm just trying to make up my mind..

You need to watch really carefully about the mods, the maintainence records(some need receipts for oil changes at a shop, not at home) and,I discovered, some have a lid of,say $5,000 for the life of the warranty, etc.I also saw one that had different deductibles for different items.Like covering the whole A/C system (most don't cover all parts of it),but it had a $250 or $350 deductible per part and most A/C parts aren't that much and it also didn't pay to replace the freon. But the engine and drive train was listed at $100 ded, however if you had a diesel, you had to buy a seperate warranty to cover several parts of the diesel..

Try one of the sponsors here http://www.discountfordpartsaty2kford.com/
---- Ed and them can beat that price on a 5 or 6 yr 100K for a diesel 4x4... so think the gasser would be cheaper...

but IF you get one, ensure it is a a genuine FORD extended warranty....
