I was wondering if someone could tell me why my headlights, interior lights, and all other lights constantly flicker? My truck is an 1985 f350 4x4,it has a 7.3L idi, though i dont know the year of the engine. I posted this once, but i accidently posted it in the wrong place. It has brand new batterys and the alternator has been checked out good. When i put the batterys in last week it stopped flickering for a couple days. Now it has got worse, and the truck is not starting as quick, have to crank it several times. This is my first deisel, only have owned it for three months. THANKS
on the pass side are a few connections some Grey yada yada but see if any type of play in these cause on these old beast its real simple power to fss and fas that is all the electronics on the pump so no type of fluctuation in them all cable to pump from petal
I had a similar problem with my '86, and a new voltage regulator solved the problem, or I cleaned up the connections replacing it and that solved the problem. At the time, several members posted solutions that included checking all the grounds, and the battery cables. If you can afford to replace parts until you find the right one (not many have those resources) go for it, but there may be many other problems. I chose to replace a bad looking regulator, and lucked out. But if that doesn't fix it, time to get down and dirty, and check those cables and grounds. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
Thanks alot for the info, I am going to try to check the voltage regulator today. I called autozone and their not that expensive. So i think i will replace it and keep my fingers crossed.
