I'm installing the ITP regulated return fuel kit and I went ahead and pulled the turbo & pedestal to change out the o-rings and to make it easier to install the ITP regulated return kit.
I'm at the point where I need to pressure test the new fuel lines and I'd like to leave the turbo out while I turn "key on, engine off." That way I'll have better access if any of the new fuel lines leak.
My question:
When I go "key on ignition off" with the turbo out, is oil going to shoot out of the turbo feed port?
No, oil will not shoot out. The LPOP is gear driven, so you have to crank the truck to get the oil going. Just turn the key to the run postion, and the fuel pump will run for 20 seconds to pressurize. Since you are installing a new regulated return, you'll need to cycle the key 3 or 4 times for 20 seconds before you get full pressure.
