What's the skinny on the blue CPS?
Is it supposed to be better than the black one?
For anyone in a similar situation, here is what I have found:
(all prices are local to me, rounded to nearest dollar, and do not include tax)
Hillcrest Ford - $212.00 - in stock
Gullo Ford - $192.00 - in stock
Napa - $185.00 - in stock - lifetime warranty
Reliable Auto Parts (local parts store) - $162.00 - in stock
O'Reilly - $149.00 - in stock - lifetime warranty
Auto Zone - $139.00 - have it same day - 1 yr warranty
International dealer (Houston) $103.00 - in stock (#1807339C92 - blue)
International dealer (Houston) $103.00 - in stock (#1825899C93 - black)
I ran the blue before I did my chip and it seemed to smooth the idle out and make the motor a little quieter. Once I put the chip in I switched back to black (like the AC/DC song) because of what Randy said above.
Just in case you need this, here are instructions for swapping out the CPS:
Not sure if any of you have noticed, but I always keep an Eye on Ebay for an extra/extra one for my glove. I have one, but the Prices latley have been in the $80's. what is up wiht that? guess they found a decent pay back for charging more now.
I have an Ebay one in my truck and one in the glove box, but always willing to drop another $50 for a third, cause you just never know.
ICP is the sensor in the driver side head toward the front, purple plug top i think.
your right on the IPR.
Purple fins on seal, three wires going into it, and located on the inside if the head toward the front? (a few inches from the IPR)
Plugged in tight, and pretty clean...just a little dust
Hard to tell if the fuel pump is coming on. All I can hear when I turn the key is the chime under the dash. Is there a way I can tell without listening for it?
I changed the CPS with a new, black one from International. It still will not start.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Dan did you check the Maxi fuse under the hood as I had suggested. I'm not sure what year they improved the fuel heater but if it shorts out your PSD wil not start!!!
