Hi. I'm new here. Just a quick question. I just bought a 2005 Ford Ranger STX 2wd with the 3.0L V6. I see Whipple makes a supercharger for this application. My question is: Just how hard is it to install this thing, and what kind of reliability could a person expect from this setup? Any advice or knowledge would be highly appreciated.
Well I'm not to familiar with the 3.0L kit but most of the V8 kits come with an intake /blower and intercooler. Very reliable power. When driving normal it will run just like it's not there but when your on the gas and in the boost you will have a significant amount of more power.
Will come with a great set of instructions and if your comfortable with changing out an intake manifold you should be able to tackle the job yourself.
Just make sure you have the hole weekend to do it.
Whipple makes one of the best kits out there!!!
Very good choice!
Thank you for the welcoming. I didn't think anybody would get back to my question so fast. I hear that a guy also has to send away his ECU. is this true? and how hard would it be to get the ECU out? any major cutting or stripping of wires? Thanks for the help!
Most kits now a days come with tuning. You never have to take you PCM out. You just swap out the chip or get a programmer and install your new program right on your chip wile its in the truck.
Even if that kit dose not come with tuning you can call someone like Troyer Performance and tell them everything you have done to the truck and they will send you a good tune right out.
I checked the link for superchargers4less and didn't see anything in the ways of a whipple or any other supercharger for that matter for a V6. Aside from actually calling Whipple themselves...the only other link I've ever come across is one from a site called Aaxel. http://www.aaxel.com/
and just follow the links in the supercharger category.
