They don't seem to be adjustable, the one on my driver's side is higher too, not 3", but higher. The reason is because of wear on the seat mechanism, the driver's seat gets a lot more use so the seatback is resting further back and hence the armrest is higher. What I am wondering is if it can be taken off easily. I would like to put on some sheepskins and would need to remove the armrest to make a small hole in the seat cover, and then reattach the armrest. Then maybe I could reattach it at a different angle. If yours is like mine, then it is looser than the passenger's also. Does anybody know if the armrests can be easily removed? It seems that any attachment is under the upholstery.

J,
I got brave this afternoon and tore into it. yes they are adjustable and can be removed. At the back of the arm rest there is a velcro held seem. pull it apart and there,s a torx bolt recessed in the foam. The size of the bolt is 45. remove the bolt, pull off the rest and there is a small allen screw on the stop back it out to get the desired height you are wanting. there,s not alot of adjustment but a little goes a long way.
