I noticed that my function selector switch on my F-350 heater control was only throwing air out the defroster vents on my truck. When I changed the selector to floor vents or front panel vents nothing happened...air continued to flow out of the defroster vents. I checked the vacuum pull on my vacuum motor under the hood and I got 15 in Hg. I then checked the reservoir tank and it held a vacuum without leaking. After that I opened the glove box and watched the vacuum control motor...it hardly moved so I pulled the hose off and checked the vacuum pull on the control motor. I only registered 2 in Hg on the hose feeding the motor. Any suggestions on what to look at next?
Look under the passenger side of the dash. 2 lines come from the control to a connecter and 3 lines out. I have seen 1 line come loose (pulled out knocked out) and cause that problem. The connecter in some cased is low and can be kicked by a foot.
What kind of lock outs do you have? I had a 03 one time that did the same thing and the valve that controls the 4wd was bad and not letting the selector switch work. It is up by the canister with i think 2 lines on it. The truck had the **** on the dash. If you find it try bypassing it and see if it works then. I will see if i can come up with a picture.
Funny you mentioned that...seems like the truck would not go into 4X4 when I was in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comColorado</ST1</st1:State> last week! I wonder if I have a leak in the system. A picture would be great thanks.
