i wondering how to keep floormats from sliding in my truck. i have some type of vinyl or rubber flooring, and im trying to find out if there is a way to keep floormats from sliding, since there are little needles on the bottom. anything will help. thanx.
The whole point of the rubber/vinyl floor is so you don't have to get floormats...but if you want them I'd suggest getting some heavy duty velcro and velcroing them down, that way you can still pull them out to clean then, but they won't come out just on accident.
I know what you are saying. I have vinyl floors and I also use floor mats because all you have to do to clean is shake the mat. That beats vacuuming and/or sweeping the vinyl. I use duck tape. just fold it over. Works for me.
I use tuffy liners on my vinyl flooring, thier molded to the shape of the floor so they don't slide and they have sides to catch water, snow, slush and mud. You just take them out turn them over to dump them out and reinstall, nice tight fit, awesome product, I have used them for years in all my vehicles.
I once saw a fella make rubber straps that straddled the tranny hump and riveted to the sides of the mats. no floor fasteners required. another trick woul be to dry some sand in the oven, spray some advesive on the back of the mat and spread the sand on right away. instant grip. common problem, darn things slide out every time.
MINE DOES THAT TO JD! Only mine catches the gas pedal so when I shift my engine suddenly revs to the redline till I yank that effin mat off of it. It actually hasnt happened in the better part of a year, but its scary when it happens.
I know exactly what you mean!!!! I love the vinyl floor but its too sliperry for the mats. I'm gonna see if i can figue out sone kind of hook system that uses the front hold down bolts of the front seats. The tape just gets destroyed by dirt and the mats need to come out often.
i once had a 87 tbird with a 5.0 h.0. with the rubber floor mats. (the ones you buy at the parts store that "fits any model" lol) any who one night as i pulled out the gas station decided to show off a bit. dumped the clutch on first and held it to the mat, went to let off the gas because its only a 35 mph zone, the peddle stayed to the floor. the mat had curled up enough to hold the gas at wot. stuck in first gear going around 50 mph or so with the valves floating. not a good combo. to fix it from ever happening again i took and drill two small holes in the back of the mat and took really small bungee cords and hooked them to the under side of the seat, if you do it right no one sees the bungees and the mat doesnt move forward.

This happened in my 85 GT 5.0 5spd only it was in 2nd gear downhill towards a red stoplight! I killed the ignition, pulled it into neutral so I could turn the key back on and steer and stood on the brakes as hard as I could till I could get it stopped. I threw the dang matt into the hatch cuz I was so mad LOL.
