One last question regarding the relays. As I understand it the green one is for the fuel pump, the brown one for the EEC. How about the gray one. What does it control?

Are you sure that is a relay?
The only reference I have is for an 89 that shows the relays. It says the device closest to the fender is the Anti-Skid Brake Test Connector (an 87 may not have this) next is the EEC Relay then the Fuel Pump and the last device is the self test connectors. The self-test connector is the plug that you use to run the self-test.
