Anyone got one of these yet? I'm considering getting it today...within an hour or two probably. Retailing seems to be in the $500-525 range. All stainless.
I don't want the loud ringing exhaust...but a low moan or pleasant throaty rumble. Anyone have any experience hearing this system in use?
Both are overkill. A single 3" mandrel bent pipe can flow enough for a motor pushing ~360rwhp. I think a tip that big looks ridiculous, but thats just my opinion. I have nothing against the Banks line, but nothing for it either. There are TONS of exhaust companies out there.
Well, that was what I initially thought too. Kinda huge. Maybe the Volant? Anybody got a word on that? Little bit more in the price though. He//, maybe I'll go with Gibson again...had it before on my '01SCrew...sounded nice with a noticeable difference in performance.
If you have an 2004 with the factory trailer hitch, the brackets in the Monster Dual Kit will not work and you will need to contact Banks customer service (free call) to get replacement brackets fabricated and sent out to you.
Mine finally arrived (about 2 weeks to get fabricated and couriered to me in Canada) and I should have the system finished within an hour or so of work tonight or tomorrow.
For my money and everything I heard about the Banks products, I figured I'd give them a try. Overall the system and quality is second to none and even with the bracket problems, the install has been totally smooth. There is a sound clip on one of the other f150 forums of a Banks single pipe system, if you are interested.
Thanks Doug. I have '07 Lariat with factory hitch.....I would assume the dimensions, etc. are the same as the '04. I'd hate to get my stock system tore off, then hit a snag and have to wait two weeks. I'll do some checking to make sure before I make the purchase. Still thinking I'm going with this one. Thanks for the feedback.
I did put Gibson on my '01 and had to remove the spare tire, as the fit did not accomodate my truck with a hitch installed. PITA!!
edit: I should mention that the one I'm looking at is the "single pipe"...not dual.

Reason: addon
Yeah, it is a b*tch to be without the truck for an additional 2 weeks because of the confusion, but what can you do? I am committed at this point...
Anyway, from what I understand, it is a problem with the 2004's only. I think Ford redesigned the trailer hitch frame mounts which is causing me the grief. The new brackets are "almost" correct, but I still had to customize them slightly to work. They are not perfect, but at least I can use the truck. I will be calling Banks again on Monday to see if they can make me ones that fit exactly right. Given the degree of help I have received so far, I am not expecting any problems.
Also, the Dual system clears the tire carrier and hitch assembly. No tire removal needed. I went with the Dual system because I personally thought the 5" tip on the single looks a bit like I ran over a Ricer and got their exhaust pipe stuck under my truck.
