I know on the older truck you can run relays to make the lights brighter overall, but with the 04 ranger I just don't think the lights light up enough road, or maybe my eyes are getting bad... Any alternatives besides the blue tinted bulbs that actually decrease light output???
I used toothpaste and rubbed it on the lens like one would using a rubbing compound. It worked like a charm. I have yet to take off the lenses and do the inside, but it helped a great deal. Any ole generic toothpaste will do.
Great trick for cleaning up old foged out lenses. But powerstrokes' is only an '04. Try the silverstar bulbs. I don't know what the light output is on the stock bulbs to use as reference, but there are higher output bulbs available for sure. I've heard of guys converting their fog lamps in the bumper to driving lights with new bulbs, but they can be anoying to oncomming traffic if not aimed well because they are so low and need to be aimed almost level to reach down the road.
Another vote for the silverstars, the stock lights in my 06 didn't seem bright enough either. I went with silverstars and they do seem brighter but from past experience they don't last as long as regular bulbs.
The '04 doesn't have fogs unfortunately... I notice the light loss mostly when the brights are clicked on.... Are the brights just not getting enough voltage?? The explorer has two seperate bulbs, one for high one for low. Any way to do that?? I had a set of silvers in my '03 but they burned out in less than a year... Any other brands or alternatives?? Thanks for the advice so far... My lenses are crystal clear still, so the toothpaste wouldn't help much...
There's a procedure in your owners manual for aiming your headlights. Yours might be off. The luminescence should'nt be lower with the brights on, so they must be aimed too high. I wish I could find it, but there's a link to the Ford owners manuals. I'll try to find it, but see what you can find out.
