As far as the LED light bar goes, use a tape measure. I see these trucks running around with the lights all to one side, it looks terrible.

When I did mine, I measured the overall length of the area under the tailgate, subtracted the length of the light bar, divided that by two, and that's how far in you come from the end. I marked the ends w/ masking tape and then measued the overall height of that area and centered the bar in the middle 3/8" of that measurement.

Also, I exposed just the ends of the adhesive and one small spot in the middle.
That way if it's not quite right when you close the gate, you can still move it.

Sorry, no pics but take your time and close the tailgate everyonce in a while, step back and look at it. Don't set all the adhesive until it's sitting right where you want it.

i bought the cab lights, turn signals, 3rd led...(all clear) and the tailgate light, with reverse...i returned the tailgate light...it jsut didnt seem to look straight...i even drilled holes and screwed it...its plastic and obviousley wont be perfectley straight...a bar made out of something less flimbsy would work great!!!

Buckshot047 let us know if the reverse lights are bright enough to light your path in reverse, or are they really all show. I have been thinking about getting one to supplement my reverse lights.

Buckshot, haven't heard from ya, how do you like the recon white lightning bar? Does it throw off any noticable light to help reversing in the dark, or is it for looks?

recon lights

looks cool but thats about it...does not give off any noticible light when in reverse...I put another set of back up lights on for that purpose....like I said it looks coll just not very functional...hope this helps

Wink My approach . . .

I used the Pace light bar for my truck, the Big Rig recon amber lights for the side running lights as well as their clear bed lights bar. The 3m tape would not stick to my Xtreme bed liner so I had to screw both the light bar and rear light bar into the truck. Pic's in gallery showing them at night, but here they are as well.
Rear light bar

Side LED Amber

The best compromise for backup lights is the White Knight trailer hitch lights. They have two 50 watt Halogins and really light up the rear of the truck. Also has a manual switch so you can turn them on w/o being in reverse.
