97 Expy shift problem
I have a friend that is having an issue with the shifter, he can't put it in park. He can go into reverse, neutral, D, 2, and 1 but not park. So when he parks he puts his Expy into neutral and sets the e brake. Any clues as what he should look for? Thank you for all your help and advise!!!

Either a damaged shifter (in the column), possibly due to a mechanical failure of the shifter interlock, or there is a mechanical binding in the transmission itself.
It would be necessary to get under the truck, disconnect the shifter cable from the tranny, then see if the binding is internal to the transmission (shift it by hand) or if the binding is still presend at the shifter lever, in which case the problem is in the column.
