I removed my egr valve on my 96 a while back and put a block off plate in its place. my question is what do i do about the egr pressure sensor and how can i keep it from throwing codes. Also im thinking of removing the air pump will this take care of it and if so is it a good idea. i live where there are no sniffer tests.
Removal of the air pump, will not affect the codes involving the egr valve.
Want my advice? Remove the block off plate, re-install the egr valve or reinstall the egr valve and keep the block off plate. No check engine light. Removing the air pump is a waste of time, do it only for aesthetic reasons, there is no performance to be gained.
Now that I havent answered your question. Do a search for EGR eliminators, sometimes they work, sometimes you'll still get a code.

All I did was put a restrictor plate between 2 gaskets on the EGR valve and it's worked great ever since. No codes, CEL's or anything and the truck runs smoother than ever. No more running lean!
Do a search for the thread "95 F-150 4.9L missing/bucking while cruising". I have instructions on how I made the restrictor plate on page 3.
With your EGR valve installed, pull the green vacuum hose off and plug it. If your truck runs smoother then you need to make a restrictor plate.
