Adjusting idle speed

Okay, I give up....too dumb.

On engines of my generation, if you wanted to adjust the idle speed there was an idle adjustment screw on the carburetor to bump the idle up or down as required.

On these newer fuel injection engines with computer control, how do you adjust the idle speed.....have screw driver in hand ready to adjust...:-)

I think my ranger could us an idle adjustment but I'm lost.

Thanks for any ideas...

There isn't any way to adjust the idle on the fuel injected vehicles, it's done by the PCM (powertrain control module).

What's wrong...high idle?

Would help to know the year, engine, tranny, mileage, etc.

Welcome to FTE.

Yes the info RP mentioned is def a requirement to give the right information. If at idle its acting wierd try just cleaning up your IAC and see how it runs after that.
