I have 900 miles on my 5.4 installed a few months ago. I had the water pump, spark plugs, coil packs, injectors, fuel presure regulator, and mass air meter, drivers side oxygen sensors, all replaced at the same time. All the sudden on day it was very hard to start and when it did it ran rough. Then the next day it would not start at all. The codes Im getting are fuel rich on bank #1 and fuel rich on bank #2. The only thing thats goofey is it quit running after I replaced the drivers side oxygen sensors after a few miles. I never got to install the passengers side oxygen sensors yet. Anybody have any ideas whats going on with my truck? The last fix I tried was the mass air unit...I put a new one on. Do I have to undo the battery to reset the brain box? Do I have to use my scan tool to reset it before it runs again? HELP!!!
I haven't seen one that was caused by the IAC. The PCV hose is prone to splitting. Since the engine was replaced recently, it might be a hose or a clamp that wasn't properly secured.
Well I took the truck in and it turns out that the gas is contaminated. When they mechanic removed a plug it was soaked, but it would not light with a lighter. Very bad...the injectors are new but plugged solid that even a flush dose not work. So far my bill is going to be around $2000 for the work being done. I turned it in under a comp claim, now the adjuster has to inspect for himself. Wish me luck?
My comp claim was OK'ed!!! The bill on it turned out to be less, ($1500). My deduct was a mere $250 of that. Talk about dodging a bullet. The ruling was vandalism. The mixture extracted from the tank appeared to be something like sugar water. It caused the injectors to stick open, and flushing would not unstick them. I now have a locking gas cap. Thanks guys for the help.
