I know this is not about trucks but I could still use some opions.
I have been redoing some old fenders for a 3 wheeler that are not longer avaible. I've been wet sanding by hand & it has turned out nice. I am getting tired of sanding though!!! I am wondering if anyone has used a phunamtic wet sander. I was looking at a Hutchins random orbital sander. Are they worth the money($230) or is elbow greese the way to go? Would I still have to give a finall hand sanding or will buffing it work. I also plan on using it when I paint our vehicals if it is worth it.
I have used the 7544 shown, my paint rep brought it on a demo. It worked great, and it is a time savings if you have flat surfaces. I still try to hand sand the curves, i prefer the touch method to make sure you are sanding flat.
Right on the 7544 is the one I was thinking about. It says the other is a more aggressive sander, not sure why though they run the same RPM. Time saving is what I am looking for! If I have to go back and do the corner and curves by hand that is still better than doing the whole thing by hand.
Just get a DA and dry sand. A good primer will easily defeat any scratches from
120 to 220 on up. Save your wet sanding for color sanding if your looking
for show finish.
Right on I will remember that when doing the vehicles. I am mostly going to be using the sander on plastic fenders. I am hoping it won't go right though the plastic. I am just tired of doing it by hand.
