My "new" 85 f150 302 automatic went in for inpspection and failed te slow stop test. When it slows down below 20mph it stalls. The shop wants to charge me $90 to figure it out. Any ideas? Is it worth it to spend the money?
Thank you, this forum has been incredibly helpful to me in this time of need!
Yeah, apparently. Believe me, this inspection process is nothing like I have seen. They told me I needed new floor panels, I told them I was replacing them and putting them on with rivets and they said this was not ok. I understand they don't want me to die from fumes but it seems like there's a happy medium.
Is this how inspections are these days or should I take it somewhere else for another opinion? They want to charge a couple hundred to clean and diagnose the engine. Is this normal? I'm feeling like they don't know this truck and are charging me to learn about it.
Sounds like you are in the city, though I am not familiar with the routine in your state. But in my state, I find a little out of the way garage with people I get to know to do my inspections.
Anyone got ideas on this one? The truck stalls when it is slowing down, especially under 20mph. The shop wants $90 to try and diagnose it. is it worth it?
If it idles rough, or won't idle at all, it could simply be a vacuum line off or cracked. Do you have a vacuum line to the distributor? If you don't then you have a computer running the engine.
