I have an 88' that i want to repaint this summer. I put a box on it from a 93' and its been sitting with primer on it so there has been rust getting bad over the wheel wells. My question is about how much does it cost to have someone cut and weld in new panels if i supply them and dont want paint?
It shouldn't cost you much to just have the panels cut and the new ones installed. In fact, if you're lucky you might find a buddy you can pay off in beer ( always a perk ).
If you take it to a bodyshop, they shouldn't charge more than a few hours per side so probably around 4 maybe 5 hundred tops to get them put in, maybe cheaper depending. If you want the bodywork done and the panels finished out ready for paint it'll be more because you first have to pay the metal time, then the body time, meaning most likely 2 different bodymen on the same job..... I know it sucks, but unfortunately it's not as cheap as sometimes we think it should be.
If you're willing to tackle the project yourself, you can save a ton of money in labor and there are plenty of people here either working on that very same project, or will be happy to give you all the insight you need.
I would say unless you can or want to do the wheel arch repair yourself, you may be better off just looking for a rust free box for your truck. Your probably going to have more money into the repairs from a bodyshop than if you would find a rust free box.
