Fuel Pumps

How goes it fellas. For those of you that were following along with my problems with my new 88 f150, it turned out to be the in tank fuel pump was going out. Anyway, my question is, When I shut the truck off, the in line and in tank fuel pumps keep running for a minute or so. Is this normal or should I throw a toggle switch on them.

Every Ford I ever had, the electric pump shut off when the key was shut off. You may want to post this question in the electrical forum. They are very helpful.
