Can anyone tell about putting tow hooks on our trucks, such as where you might have put them? On my front bumper, it has two opening and in side the two openings I can see two holes. Are these the factroy drilled holes for tow hooks or are they located some where else? Hopefully someone out there has tried to put some on too.
unfortunatly tow hooks were not a factory option on our trucks. There is no good way to do it but it has been done.
these are some pics of the best option I have seen. most others don't get a straight pull on the frame and could bent the frame up,down or side ways.
no they are from a late 80's to late 90's chevy 1/2 to 1 ton. The problem with took hooks from the superduties is they are not hooks they are tow hoops. the hooks are better because you can always hook a strap on them. the superduties if on end needs to be looped or threaded around itself all you have on the strap is the loop. and if you have a closed point you can't attach it. I hope I explained that so you can understand. I can't think of a better way to explain it.
Your right tj. The superduties are hoops now that the brain is in gear!!! You could also use a clevis with the hoops. Have to find some chebby tow hooks i guess. Tow hooks up front would be nice.
the stock holes don't linw up with the frame. if done the way in the link I think it looks very good.
also a clevis would work but I am partial to not have metal peices taht can break and come thru my back window! I prefer straps only with no metal atteched other than tow hooks. that said some times a clevis will be needed.
