Is there a place here or on the net (I know what NADA says, I am looking for real world values) where you can get a feel for what '60's and '70's F100 are really worth after restoration? I have a couple of F100's I am restoring and I need to know how much money to get into them before you can't get it back.
Not too long ago I bought a 73 F100, with 32K original miles, repainted (not super quality, but factory quality for that year), had two aftermarket front fenders (suprisingly they fit pretty well), and had one rust hole fixed in the rear quarter of the bed. Could use a tune up, but the old 240-6, 3 on the column ran pretty darn good. Had the very basic options for 73 (no radio, no A/C, no carpet). I bought the truck for $2300 and thought maybe I paid too much for it and still think so after the fact.
As far as valuing these trucks....You never get out of these trucks what you have into them.
Depends on how the truck is done, and with what degree of quality. The restored one's seem to top around 15K, some of the Hot Rods and Customs will get quite a bit higher then that, IF they are done very nicely.....
I watch ebay continously to follow the auctions of '69 - '79 F100's and it will give you a good indication of "real world" values. You can look at all the sources ie. NADA, Edmunds, etc. but knowing what you can actually sell one for is always different. I also look at TruckTrader and other online publications but find that most advertisers are unrealistic in their asking prices. Just my .02 worth and good luck.
