Good morning
I work for a tree outfit in Placer county in Ca. two weeks ago Fred (the owner) got a letter saying that we had to register all equipment over 50 horsepower with C.A.R.B. Last thursday we were sighted by Carb for not having are chipper registered. The bottom line is we are shut down and it will be $2800 to continue using are chipper until 1-1-09 only in Placer county(kinda limits us). then after that date you can no longer use equipment older than a 2000 model. If we are caught using are chipper without it being registered it will be a $20,000 fine. So are options are sell the chippers to get out of fines and buy a new one which is a pretty bad time for, or close up shop and get a job.
Now that I got all that out what do you all think, this hole thing smells fishy to me normally Gov. agencies give X amount of days to comply, carb is saying now or pay. Any one heard of this and have any info that might help us. Fred has calls in above carb but hasn't had an answer.
It's just gonna get worse, the suprem court ruled in favor of the eviro-****'s, I don't know the jest of it, but it's supost to impact the whole automobile industry and tricle down to the consumers wallet.
Until MILLIONS of citizens stand up and grab a politician by the shirt collar and tell them to Back off with their stupid laws and rules that are all about Money ..things like this will continue.

Just to update everyone C.A.R.B was totally out of line and didn't know what the hell they were talking about. It pertains to diesels which are chipper was not. I say was because to satisfy them my boss bought a new 06 deisel chipper and traded in his old two, an 86 & 94. Just after all the papers were signed he recieved a call from the baord of suppervisors telling him that carb was full of ****. So all this ended up costing us $37,000 and were plan on taking action, pissed would be an understatment.
I'm all for cleaning the air we breath. I don't like the way they are handling it, they pretend to be some big know it all when they don't know **** about the law they passed. My boss has degrees in political sciencs and was a lobbiest for a few years. He read up on the law and started making phone calls to people higher up than carb, within 2 hours he recieved calls from carb saying they screwed up. The enforcers need to read up on what they are enforcing before they take action. Just because an agency tells you something deosn't meen that they are right
Sorry for the blabbing.

Im so happy to be out of California. CARB and California Coastal Commission are the biggest communist jokes. Its really said what they have done to California. Between them and illegal immigration California is just unbearable.
No, they ruled in favor of the ****'s, thier never going to fix everything we screwed up, because there are to many people on the earth and the population keeps growing. The earth will fix it's self in time and there not a darn thing we can do about it but set back and enyoy the ride. There will never be total agreement on this stuff across the planet, unless everyone plays by the same rules, it's futile. However the earth will right it's self in time and the human race will bare the brunt of it. I'm not talking about pollution, but over population. I don't buy into this man made global warming, I believe the earth cycles as it allways has. But never has there been this many people on the earth at one time and the population keeps growing, this is where the problem lies and if we don't address it, mother earth will.
Oh It will, I promise - after there are no more humans left on this planet.
It's been here 5 billion years. It's gone through horrific crater impacts that destroyed virtually all life. Continents have been thrown into the sea, and the sea floor has been thrown to the surface in terrifying displays of unimaginable power. Tropical rainforests have been turned into arid deserts, vice versa, and back again.
And you think some carbon dioxide and plastic bags are going to ruin the planet?
The planet will be fine - once it rids itself of its nasty, dirty, inhabitants.
