Haha. Well...ok REALLY long story short...I've come upon a wrecked 4x4 Ranger (or what's left of it). I'm going to strip it of what's left of parts (free...I can't complain) and was wondering how the shifter arrangement looked...both are missing. It was definetly a stick shift and manual 4x4.
What year's the wrecked Ranger? I believe if its a floor mount, all you'd need is the 4x4 panel thats in the floor that allows your access to the tranny. Unless the mount is further off the side of the tranny tunnel. Then that'd require surgury.
Well I just got a line one someone to take the truck off of my hands. Got it yesterday, gone today. I had intended on harvesting a few rear end parts off of it, but the rear end had some nice damage to it.
Can't complain, bought it for $200, got some parts off of it, sold it for $200. It'll be out of here tommorow.
Kewl kewl. Sounds like what I did with my first car. I bought it for $500. Then bought a $100 parts car and immediately needed the entire exhaust from the manifold to the tailpipe! Alot of miscelaneous other parts after that but that exhaust alone saved me a ton of money since that car had been outta production for 10 years! Then after all that sold the original car for $650!
I've got some crazy ideas going through my head right now. That 302 in the garage is sort of losing it's appeal for going into the Ranger...and I've now got the potential of trading the 302 for another engine (what can I say...Cleveland rocks...).
Well if we know you right you'll keep us informed the whole way! BTW A friend of mine years back had a car that was a pretty nice 2 door 80's caprice that was his grandparents originally. Someone pulled out infront of him and finally gave him the excuse to cut into the original LOW mileage car that his family wouldnt let him touch! He's now got it driving daily with a new chevy 383 with aluminum heads by trick flow and a holley 4 barrel thats actually gettin him 18-20 mpg! At a best track time of the 12's if i remember right on his bfg drag radials. Just food for thought if you've got good insurance and an engine just laying around.
