Greetings fellowes FTEs. I have a problem I need help with. I have a 96 Bronco and the battery keeps draining every 2 days. I've replaced the battery twice already to no avail. Here are a couple of problems I am having, I can start my truck without a key so I'm thinking maybe my problem is a new ignition switch, also if I turn the key too far the brake light comes on and my speedometer stops working. When I bring it back a little the light goes out and everything is fine. Would a faulty ignition switch cause my battery to keep draining or should I search for something else. Also when the battery is charged it takes a few seconds for the engine to turn over when I start it, sometimes it won't turn off at all, the lights will just come on but it won't crank. I have to keep trying until it turns over. Please help. Thanks
Fix the ignition switch first. That way you will eliminate it as a possible cause. Best case, it will fix your problems, and worse case you have a properly functioning switch.
I am with andym. get the ignition switch fixed first. You may want to check the altenator out as well. If the altenator is not replacing the charge on the battery that may be the cause your battery power loss.
brother get yourself an ammeter i would go with a scale of 3-5 amps max this gets connected in series with the batt. any thing more than a few milliamps for clock and radio functions is excessive.by disconnecting, probing, moving crap around you will find the fault.helps to have a helper.a 19 year old son who is a motorhead works!lol good luck and regards shovelhead
