I'm thinking about getting a liner for my 07 F150 bed. I don't want a drop in because I had one in my last truck and absolutely hated it. I've been doing a lot of comparisons between the spray-on liners and the DIY roll-ons. The 1st obvious difference is price, with the DIY's winning that battle. But it's hard to compare quality and durability from websites, since everyone you go to says they're the best product out there. I figured this would be a good place to some non-bias opinions from personal experiance. I don't do much heavy hauling..mostly just furntiture, tools, home improvement materials and occasionally my brother's motorcycle, so I'm leaning towards the DIY roll-on. If anyone cares to put in their two cents, good or bad, I'd appreciate it.
I haven't installed one on my truck yet. I know some people with the commercial spray-on type and they are very happy with it. I don't know anyone who has done a DIY kit though. There is a tech article about a DIY roll-on kit I think.
I have done quite a bit of research on the subject and I've decided to go for the best of both worlds. I found a DIY spray-on kit. It comes with the spray gun and is about the same price as the DIY roll-on's. It's by U-Pol called Raptor. Just google it or you might can find it on Ebay. The spray-on will give you better control over the thickness. Just my $.02
I've used the U-Pol Raptor kit on 3 different trucks now and have had good luck with it. My only suggestions is to order 2 kits to do a full size truck bed. One kit is just a bit short of getting the overall thickness you need for a successful sprayout. All in all it's worth it though and saved a ton of money.
