Is there an upgrade to the stock 71 wiper switch that would have more than off, slow, high? Is there another year that might have intermitant? I don't raelly mind the speeds but when all I need is occasional it is a pain to reach up and click on/off one time.
The delay is run off the switch, on a two speed wiper motor. I run it on my 66. I used the 2 spd motor from a 76 that I was parting out and the switch from an even later donor. The new switch plugs directly into the wiring harness and has a control box and ground wire. It is very simple to install.
As long as you use the rotating **** switch, there are many Ford product donors from the 70s & 80s. Some went to a slide switch before going to the column stalk.
John what year/model wiper switch did ya get to make them intermintent? iwas thinking of doin the same on my 71.i even got the washer to work over the weekend.
Wizzard, I have helped several folk with the delay, and I can not remember where I got mine from. Pickups, vans, full size cars all can be donors, ya gots to spend a day yarding.
cool i can spend all day out in the back yard again!!i bet i have every thing out there.thanks Dennis for the link, and John ill be talkin to ya if i cant figure it out.thanks again
As Jowilker stated you gots to go 'yarding" this means spending 5 hours, a day or longer in many wrecking yards to get what you want, it ain't going to jump into your parts chaser. Boils down to how much you want these items.

Well.... there is a way to get one delivered right to your door safely
I used to have an 88 XLT Lariet that had the wiper **** type switch on the dash with the delay. Turned right for low and high, Turned left to control the amount of delay time. Look for one like that. Or, you can get one at your local parts store. Just depends on how much you want to pay out. My 2..................
I took the wiper switch and the little control box out of a 76 ford ranger donor that I just happened to have (got it for the windsheild, paid 25$ for the whole truck minus the engine) and it works great with the stock wiper motor that came with the truck , and it was a direct replacement to the switch that was in my truck ,no rewiring, replacing the motor or cutting of any kind.
