Looking thru the LMC catalog for stuff I need I came across a fresh air duct that attaches to the air cleaner snout,1973-79. I bought the longest one (25.5"). It just barely reaches the openings between the battery and radiator. My question, Is there a factory piece that attaches this duct to the area by the battery where the holes to fresh air are? Was this an option on our year trucks. My truck always seems to run stronger when cooler rather than hotter.

Yes my 77 came with a plastic item that attached to the radiator support and stoped about the back of the battery. The shorter fresh air duct fit over the end.
So far all the 73-79 trucks that I have seen have the provisions to install the factory cool air intake setup (such as the radiator support cutout and the holes on the passenger fender). The plastic air duct that f100tk77 was talking about might be found in the junk yard. I have two 1975's and a 1974 with those provisions, but no air duct and flexable hose.
My cold air intake looked old and cracked so I took it apart. Inside it was packed solid with a a birds nest. So Im just running it without that duct for now......
I've got the hard plastic piece that attaches to the radiator support...as of a few weeks ago, I now have the air cleaner...I'm just starting to look for the flexible part that connects them.
LMC truck has the flexable part for sale, in two sizes. And they are not that expensive and they are not weathered out and brittle from the junkyard. That would be my best bet.
