G'day all,
I'm looking to buy my first Bronco shortly and it will probably be something 1982 - 1986 or similar. I am looking for a 302 or 351, auto or manual. It must be gased up though. I am going to spend up to $16k so if anyone can give me some advice on what to look out for and what ever pros and cons can be passed on to me would be very much appreciated. Want to make this first trip into Broncodom one to remember for all the right reasons.
Well if you are willing to spend 16 grand on a 82-86 Bronco, I do not think that you need anyones help here because as anyone should be able to figure out it should be in mint shape.
G'day Chris
That's 16 thousand aussie peso's, whoops I mean dollars. I've seen them advertised in car mags for up to 30k for an 85 model. They must be dreaming I guess. I know you get what you pay for, and let the buyer beware and all that stuff, but I'm genuine and just wanting to something to tow my boat and go fishing along the beach. So we will see what transpires.
Aussie Dale,
I've got an 86' fullsize with a 302 EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection).....absolutlety love it. However, the engine....god rest it's soul...just died so I'm poutting a new one in after 144,000 miles. My dad wanted me to put'her down but a refused....I love it so much. The only thing I would have done different is put a 351 in the engine bay...more power to pull the 35" mudding tires (but that would have required some modifications). But, the 302 is a very strong engine! My wife dosn't like the way it bounces around so much, but it is part of it's character. I suggest if you plan on hauling a boat, install stiffer leaf springs. My baby also has a 4" suspension lift to fit the 35's underneath. Check out the picture under the picture gallery or my profile. Good luck brother!!
I have an awesome 83 Bronco 351/C6auto I will sell ya for $4000! It has 6" lift and 35" tires! You can put the rest into the truck if you want and you will be ahead of the game!
