Mine would be a 7.3L Turbo Diesel. We'vw got a few in pick-ups at work, and in the standard and supercabs, they go like stink and still get decent mileage.
Mine would be a '88-'97 EFI460 big-block,with a E4OD transmission.Maybe have the 460 built to about 300-320hp& 450-475 lb.-ft.of torque,and swap in some 4.56:1,or 4.88:1 gears.
Mine would be to get one of those "reworked" 351-bored to 358 700+ HP NASCAR ground-pounding monster motors. My 87 only gets about 10MPG now, so a drop to 5-7 MPG wouldn't be much more painful considering the HP gain!

I was thinking about this the other day and I came up with the new Power Stroke Diesel with Banks Power Pack and six speed transmission. With like the 4.56's What a towing machine that would be!!!! too bad ford doesn't make a new bronc based on the superduty platform
i'd do the gt-40 302 replace what i have now with all aluminum components to lose some weight, plus they made that engine perfect the first time. Maybe a supercharger on that too.
The engine out of the DeLorean in Back to the Future that way I could go back and fix Fords problems and keep building the Bronco . . . only better than before . . .
