my passenger window will not go down..when using a test light I get power trying to put the window up and I can hear the window jump like it would go up if it was down..but no power when I'm trying to put it down..when using the button on drivers side I get no power at all on the passenger door..relay and fuse are good..does this sound like a bad switch on the drivers door??or would you say the motor is shot??.can I run a jumper wire to see if the motor is shot? thanks guy's.
I'm not sure about the newer trucks, but I did it on the older ones. There should be 2 plugs behind the kick panel. One for the locks and one for the windows. The windows should have three wires, one for ground, one up and one down. You should be able to stick the point of the test light in the back of plug, while it is still together to see if it has power. It is also possible for the motor to get loose and jamb, but usually it is in the down position when that happens. It can also wear and jamb, but again it is usually down when that happens. If you don't get power to the plug then you have to check the drivers door switch. If that has power look for a bad wire going to the other door. If you have power at the plug, try a jumper to see if the motor works. Make sure the contacts are clean on all the switches.
thanks for the reply...I tried pulling all the switches and cleaning them...there is only 2 wires going to the motor..from the passenger switch...a red and a black..I have power when only trying to go up and you can hear the window try but its already all the way up....I get nothing when trying to go down...when using the button on driver side I get nothing at all..can I use a jumper wire right off a 12 v wire or is too much amps for the motor??
It the switch,my buddy had the same problem. When his broke the window would roll down but not up,there was only one problem. It was -15 outside and we were 80 miles from home.It sure was a cold ride home that day.
