Kevin - great mod as usual and the truck is looking great also as usual. I will have to keep this mod in mind in case I take out my current backup lights that I did similar to your last truck. Those have been working great for me especially when I plow at night. I have already run my current ones into some snow banks, but I kept them loose so that they would swing out of the way instead of breaking which has worked. I like how much light these throw and how small they are which would make a nice upgrade to what I already have. Thanks again for sharing!!

Ok, I have the lights, diodes, velcro, relay, and electrical connectors. Where do I find the green and black wire? Also, (it would be easier if you just did it for me) do all these connections with the relay and diode occur near the front of the truck? with a wire running back to the lights, or is the relay, and diode at the rear? I'm already to go, just need a little more input. Thanks for any help. Joe B.

I got mine done today....I used high strength velcro that I saw at Radio Shack. I cleaned the surface of the lights, and the surface of the receiver hitch with alcohol so the tape would stick. I haven't seen them at night yet...but they seem cool.

The way I wired mine was to splice into the wire at the reverse light, run that wire up to the inside of the cab for the 'switch' of the relay, then run another wire all the way back to the bumper to turn the lights on. I ran the power wire into the cab as well from the battery. I hooked mine up with the upfitter switch as well. The relay sits on the floor, under the carpet by my feet till I get it screwed into the back of the area where my feet go. The lights work great, I can't wait to see it in the dark. I don't have any other tips other than what has been posted on here already. The diode idea was a good one. I did use the diode. I probably spent $65.00 or so total with the relay, lights, diode, and extra wire.

Thanks again guys.

CounterMaker...I really appreciate it man

fpd....The Reverse Wire Black/Green can be found in the frame. I pulled it from the drivers side.

hardint...The velcro has held up very well...no issues yet.

I actually replaced the 55W bulbs when I bought them with 100W bulbs and ran 14 gauge wire to the lights to try and maximize light output from the small housings.

I haven't taken mine apart to see the bulbs. Perhaps it will be self explanatory....but what type of bulbs did you get to get 100 watts? I admit, mine weren't as bright as I had hoped, but with 100 watts, I will be shining light on everything!

He used an upfitter switch to trigger the relay. Since the upfitter switches are "key-on" hot, they won't work with the key off. I would have them this way too so that you (or someone else) can't accidentally flip the switch on during the day and drain your batteries while you can't see that they are on.

Thanks guys,

Yeah I have the upfitter as a secondary trigger...the primary is the reverse wire (black/green). This turns the lights on when the truck is in reverse, and also allows me to turn it on via the upfitter when the truck is not in reverse.

fpd.. you are looking for H3 100W bulbs..
