Stray ground strap

I found a loose ground strap just hanging around the driver side between the door and the cab. It's right near the frame if I recall correctly. Where is it supposed to be bolted/screwed on?? 79 F250 2wd.

Ok, will update with a picture.

I don't remember seeing any type of fastener on the loose end.

Everything electrical-wise works in the cab, though.

Are there any holes that could hold a screw that size with in reach?

Updated with a picture.

Seems like it's a friction fit clamp, not a screw.

Sorry it's tilted. Hard to get on the pavement on clean clothes.

That does not look OEM, maybe some aftermarket corrosion inhibitor device or anti-static device.

Corrosion inhibitor?! Hmm...Eh? it looks just the strap found in the hood/cowl.

No aftermarket electric gizmos, either.

I've seen things like that to keep Cables and things like that away from being grabbed by underbrush.

No cables or anything in the vicinity other than what was installed at the assembly line.

Maybe it's for the running boards.

I guess it's safe to yank it off the truck and dispose of it.

...and as soon as you do that, you'll discover what it was for!

If it is annoying you, by all means remove it, but I wouldn't pitch it just yet.

Yep, I'm gonna put it in the glove box for now.

Everything works in the cab except the left side of the instrument panel and the right turn signal arrow light. Maybe that's why, but I'll have to investigate further.

The left side of the panel? I hope you mean the backlight for it...I just did my gauges a few weeks ago...it was a bit difficult to get the speedo cable off, but other than that, it's easy to pull the cluster and I just changed all of the light bulbs...fixed the two of mine that were not working...(left turn indicator and left side back light.) Good luck!

Yeah, the backlight. I need to fix it, but that's lower on my priority list. How do you remove the speedo cable off? Did you do it underneath or when the cluster is a bit forward?

Put a towel on the steering column and tilt the cluster forward.
squeeze the white tab and pull the cable away from the speedo head.

I pulled the cluster as far forward as I could...then used a pair of linemans cable dykes to squeeze that white tab that Mil1ion posted a pic of...(thank you, sir) then the speedo cable pops right out, and pulling the cluster is simple.
