Extra ground straps on these 70ish year Ford Trucks will help the electrical system.

Clean all connections with a wire brush or 120+ sand paper.
I've had a lot of luck swapping out the bulbs in the instrument cluster without removing the cluster. I just stand on my head and grope around under the dash.
The bulb sockets can be taken out and put back in without messing with the dash.
