Help with engine codes

Hi guys,

Pulled codes on my '95 f-150 302 - trying to solve a rough, surging idle.

Codes
koeo - #111 - No problems, cm - #172 - Bank #1 lean
koer - #211 - Thermactor air system inoperable during test
#311 - Can't control idle during test - low RPM check

I replaced the tps and set voltage.
Replaced IAC - with new IAC diconnected, engine still idles level??? Bad part??

What would be the obvious things to look for based on the codes?

Thanks for any help.

Does this truck have a MAF? If so, I would try cleaning it. Just spray the filiments with brake parts cleaner. Do not touch them. A new PCV valve might not hurt either.

No MAF that I'm aware of - No sensors in the air intake tube. Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Sounds like a vacuum somewhere. I would check the PCV area first. It could have a bad hose or is stuck open drawing in too much air.

I know 94's had MAF just before the air cleaner. Odd that a 95 doesn't.

MAF trucks were hit or miss in 94 and 95...

Talking

Hey, Thanks for the replys - Guess mine is a MAF miss
I'll do a good search for vacum leaks and see what I can find.

On the matter of the IAC - my understanding is that the truck should barely, if at all, run with the IAC unplugged - assuming no other air supply is available, i.e. vacum leaks. That should also mean that the IAC is in a "normally closed" position with no power and the bypass valve should be closed, even when fresh from the box?? May pull the IAC and verify if valve is closed with no power.

Thanks,

EE

I've heard and read both ways on the IAC thing. The mustang guys say to set the idle with the IAC unplugged, while most folks on here say that the engine should stall with the IAC unplugged, so I dunno which is right.
