I have an '86 bronco 4x4 with a 351W efi. (not original, speed density)
I have nearly finished rebuilding the 351 and I am considering new injectors. Well I am going to get new ones but what options do I have?
The engine was balanced and has a comp cam (the speed density one that everyone gets. I forget the number right now.) It is also running a new set of dynamax headers.
What about increasing fuel pressure or using high performance injectors?
Any ideas out there?
Unless you have aftermarket heads and intake, you don't need bigger injectors. Using other than 19lb injectors will cause severe running problems for the SD efi system.
Would spending extra money on performance injectors be money well spent? or does the speed density computer (and pressure limit) make this a moot point?
You can keep the stock 19's, even with aftermarket heads and a cam. Tuning options are limited for speed density, but if you have a local programmer that can work with speed density, then that'll be your best option.
Otherwise, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (FPR), timing light and borrowed wideband (if you don't have your own) is another option for tuning.
The ECU will compensate some (with the stock injectors), but WOT is where you'll see the difference though...this is where some type of tuning is needed with speed density.
