Help!

I have a 2001 Ford F-150 XLT Supercab, with the V6. I changed the oil, oil filter, and the air filter today (I just bought the truck). I used 5W20 as reccomended by the owners manual, and I also put a bottle of Slick 50 in, as the motor has just over 100,000 miles. The 'check engine soon' light is now on!?! All I did was a flippin oil change! Someone tell me what's wrong!!??!!

Hello and Welcome to the Forum!

You can go to a Autozone and have the code read for free. I would do that first before changing anything on the truck.

Don't panic, see what the computer says first.

I'm gonna unhook the battery and hook it back up and see if that does anything

That will clear the code. But if it pops up again I would get it scanned to find out what the issue is. It could be something very minor and not at all related to the service you did on it.

OK, Thanks-I will remember that. My mechanical aptitude doesn't translate from Harley Davidson to pickup very well.........

Resetting the codes is something that should only be done if the code(s) have been read and recorded.
