Actually, CompCams makes cams for the 2.6 & 2.8, as well as hydraulic lifters (among other pieces and parts, like pushrods, etc.). I've never called them to inquire about the interoperability and compatibility, though. You can also get a hi-volume Melling oil pump for the 2.6 & 2.8 as well. The only performance cams I've seen for the 2.9, however, are Camcrafts, and, oddly enough, I believe the CompCams Ford V6 (2600, 2800) and 6-cyl (car!) lifters will fit the 2.9, but I'd have to check on that.

Oddly enough, I can say yes, I dont like the stator or the module. I have both in my Mustang and Bronco, and have had problems. But I like the 2.9, only thing I dont like is the location of the distributor. Im looking into getting the 2.8 I was talking about, and seeing what I can do with it. I'll let you guys know how it goes, and asking for advise as I go. Thanks guys!!
