Click the "Go Advance" button next to the "Post Quick Reply" Button. Scroll down and there will be a button labeled "Manage Attachments" that will let you add pics. Or create an alblum in your gallery.

Or you can go to photobucket or some other image hosting site and manage your pics there. Most will autosize them for you and even help make avatars. Makes life easier when your technologically challenged like me. 
Ooops, not a full answer. From that or whatever site, copy the URL and then create whatever post, click on the insert image in the tool box above, then paste the URL in that box. It should appear.
BTW, 600x800 is the max pixel you should use here.
