I have a 2000 f250 superduty 4x4 with the 5.4 .The truck started this morning and after i shut it off i went to restart it and the starter just clicks! It has power to the starter but one of the relays under the dash clicks when i try to start it.I swapped relays and it does the same thing.Any ideas on this guys?
thanks
p.s.
i replaced the starter and seloniod but it still does the same thing as well as the clicking relay.
check the voltage of the battery and make sure both cables are clean at the connectors. It sounds like it is not getting full power to the starter.
Same thing happened to me in a chev@#$@!#$. Turned out to be the batt. connections. Truck had plenty of juice, electric windows worked fine - if they run slow you may have a low amp situation.
Thought I had a bad starter. When the tow guy came out he said "pop the hood" and he did a quick tighting up - and she fired right up.
That'll be the first thing I check from now on. Man, did I feel foolish.
