Hi Guys what is the correct procedure when mounting a newly painted F100 (1955) cab to the chassis. Front mounts look straight forward, but the rear look tricky to fit without using a bar or similar so risking damaging the new paint.. Any advice would be real welcome.
I can't help you with your 55 but I wanted the guys and gals on this forum to know that you are the guy with the great website in the UK that I (and others) have refered others to on installation of XJ IFS and IRS. You certainly helped me.
Come on FTE'rs, post how you fitted up a painted cab.
Holmsey, Rusty50f1 is trying to find articles on installing Jaguar XJ6 in his pickup.I found one site somewhat helpful. A site in Australia had a good lengthly article with pictures, but they shut down or changed names. His thread was a few pages back. Have a great day and thanks, chuck
Hi Chuck I am no expert I have done only one conversion. XJ6 front and rear suspension to a 1955 F100. But I do know a few people who have done several conversions. I will help any way I can if you let Rusty50f1 know my e-mail. I am fairly sure come think of it rusty50f1 has tried to join in on the chat room I have linked to my web site.. I will have a scout round see if I can find him. Cheers Chuck.. Still anyone know how to fit a painted cab back onto a painted chassis without marking the paint ;o)
Has nobody fitted an F100 cab back on the chassis then after its been painted?
I am thinking fit the mounts to the cab then slide cab and mounts down from the top of the chassis and paint up any bits that get scrapped... I am hoping come the time I will have a few friends round who may be able to work it out anyway. I just thought I would get as much advice as I can before the day comes along.
Holmsey A friend of mine painted his cab and frame a while back and four of us picked up the cab and sat it on the frame. No problems and no scratches. Never put one back on by myself. But if I have to put mine back on by my self I'll use straps and a hoist. Hope this helps. RUSTY
